Privacy, Cookies and Personal Data Protection Policies

Digital IELTS is a Finland-based online service providing in association with SpeechAce LLC, US, bundled online courses and services to learn English online and prepare for the IELTS test.

This policy will apply in all locations where we operate to all forms of information and to all systems used to collect, store, process or transfer information, including the information obtained from our website https://digitalielts.com and/ or our learning management system https://ielts.digitalienglish.com.

In countries where there are different privacy and data protection laws, we will comply with those laws where they meet internationally accepted privacy principles and fair information handling practices.

In Finland, in particular, it is the current Data Protection Act (1050/2018) with which we wish to comply.

We act in a fair, transparent and accountable way and do our utmost to ensure there is no unwarranted impact on our visitors and customers.

What information we collect and why

We collect and use personal information to offer people information, products and services, i.e. to inform them by email, generate access to our web-based products or services and acquaint them with, new product releases, offers or technical updates. We may use depersonalized data from web analytics tools for upgrading the quality of our service, usability and web content.
We may collect and process personal information that can identify a user, such as the user's nickname, given name(s), family name and email address, a social media profile or a phone number, as well as other information that does not directly identify the user, such as depersonalized data (also using cookies) via on-site web analytics services, e.g. Google Analytics.
We also collect and process samples of user-recorded audio when it is voluntarily submitted for evaluation. When a user provides information through our application or website, the information will be sent to servers located within and outside the European Union. The user's email and telephone number, as well as social media profile links are confidential and will not be posted in the profile.

  • protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information we collect, store, transfer and process in accordance with the Finnish law and international good practice, and to meeting our legal requirements and contractual obligations
  • only sharing personal information within our company and with other organisations to abide by the law or if the person concerned has given their consent
  • allowing people to request access to the personal information we hold on them and to complain if they believe their information has been mishandled
  • not keeping personal information for longer than necessary
  • taking measures to protect the rights and freedoms of individuals whose personal information may be transferred to countries with differing data protection laws
  • ensuring that actual or suspected breaches of information security are reported and investigated
  • assessing and measuring the maturity of our information security controls regularly.

Should any of our users wish to complain, withdraw consent for the use of personal data, or ask us to delete the personal information we hold on them, they are welcome to notify us via email (at support@digitalielts.com) in English.


Legal foundation for personal data processing

We collect and process the user's personal data only if the user has unaidedly entered and/or submitted it through the user registration forms within our website https://digitalielts.com and and/or our learning management system https://ielts.digitalienglish.com.

By entering their personal data (name, email address and/or phone number) to the respective input fields and/or submitting it to us, and clicking the "I agree" button, the User agrees with the given Privacy Policy and our use of personal data and cookies.
We collect and process depersonalized data, if the User's web browser settings allow that (Cookies and JavaScript have been enabled)

The user can ask for further clarification on the matters related to their personal data collecting and processing by contacting us in English at support@digitalielts.com.

We will review this privacy policy statement regularly to reflect new legal and regulatory developments and ensure good practice.
